“Play is the highest form of research.” -Albert Einstein
Play and art therapy are very helpful for children as play is the natural language for a child to process their inner world. This therapy approach sets the stage to allow children the time and space to process things that they may not be able to or willing to express with words alone.
Our play room is equipped with a wide array of toys and expressive materials to help children communicate about all aspects of their lives. Our primary approach in treating children using play therapy is Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). This relational approach allows children to address a variety of issues including improving emotional expression, processing and regulation skills, processing trauma, improving self-esteem and autonomy, reduces anxieties and depressive symptoms, and more.
Play therapy can be helpful for addressing behavioral issues caused by bullying, grief and loss, divorce and abandonment, physical and sexual abuse, and crisis and trauma (Association for Play Therapy). To learn more about play therapy, please visit https://www.a4pt.org
